      <description><![CDATA[Dr. Wei “David” Fan, assistant professor in civil engineering at The University of Texas at Tyler, has received more than $132,000 from the Texas Department of Transportation to enhance their fleet management, 

With the two-year research grant, Fan will help create a software system that tests the validity of equipment based upon that class of equipment’s age, mileage, resale value and replacement costs. ]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[John J. Vasselli has been named executive director of The University of Texas at Tyler Texas Allergy, Indoor Environment and Energy Institute, Dr. Arlene Horne, vice president for research and federal relations, announced.

Vasselli also will serve as a UT Tyler research professor and as the recipient of the Mary John and Ralph Spence Professorship. Before coming to UT Tyler, he previously served as director of the air management, acoustics and vibration and indoor air quality technology and components group within Carrier Corporation.  ]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Dr. Lance Williams, associate professor of biology at The University of Texas at Tyler, and Marsha Williams, part-time grants investigator with the university’s biology department, were awarded nearly $72,000 to assist in the development of a project in Louisiana, Dr. Arlene Horne, vice president for research and federal relations, announced.With the $71,935 contract in collaboration with Quantitative Ecological Services, Inc., they will help biologists in Fort Polk, La. develop a stream biomonitoring program. ]]></description>

The event is open to the public and will begin at 8:30 am and conclude at 4:00 pm in the UCN Ballroom.  Please join us for some very interesting and exciting presentations by UT Tyler's finest researchers. We are also thrilled to be able to bring you, at 12:00 noon during the lunch hour, the Keynote Address by Dr. Kelsey Downum, from The University of Texas at Arlington, whose presentation will be: <i>"Biodefense in Nature"</i>.  The research presentations will commence every 15 minutes throughout the day.  Please attend any and/or all of them! The grant program will offer 10 graduate and 10 undergraduate research awards for the 2009 spring semester.       <description><![CDATA[With the help of The University of Texas at Tyler, soldiers of the future could become battlefield chameleons, their uniforms changing colors to match the environment and provide better camouflage. UT Tyler is working on the electronic aspects of the uniform. But it takes more than just electronics research. It also takes applying for grants, coordinating researchers from different universities and perhaps even commercializing the product. That's why the university has established the Center for Research and Economic Development, which will be based at the Palestine campus, UT Tyler officials announced Monday.]]></description>
